"A numerical study of the Bose-Hubbard model with a trapping potential"

The seminar shows an application of the Trap Size Scaling (TSS) technique to the Bose-Hubbard model with a trapping potential in 1, 2 and 3 dimensions. Particular emphasis is put on the scaling behaviour of some observables close to phase transitions and to the determination of critical points. A detailed description of the versatile algorithm employed in the study, i.e. the Directed Loop Update, will be also provided.
