COOPERATION IN NEUROSCIENCES BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF VERONA AND THE CAPITAL UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES OF BEIJING
In April 2006 Prof. Antonio Fiaschi, Head of the Department of Neurological and Visual Sciences (University of Verona), paid a visit to the Neuroscience Institute of the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing and met with its Director, Prof. Xu Quanyuan, in order to finalize mutual scientific cooperation and academic exhanges in the following research fields:
Cellular neurobiology of brain development and repair;
Neurophysiology of cognitive function, including attention and memory;
Motor learning and movement and disorders (Parkinson’s disease, dystonia et al.), including functional neurosurgery and rehabilitation;
Coregistration EEG-FMRI (focal epilepsy, outcome in stroke);
Stem cells and proteomics as novel tools to understand the immune molecular mechanisms in neuroimmunology;
Genetic aspects in neurodegenerative disorders.
The above research projects will be jointly carried out by the Department of Neurological and Visual Sciences of the University of Verona in Italy and by the Neuroscience Institute of the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing (P.R. of China) through an exchange programme involving specialization students, research fellows and/or visiting professors for short and medium-term stages.
A delegation from the Capital University of Medical Sciences will visit Verona at the end of April 2007 in order to sign the cooperation agreement with the University of Verona in the field on neurosciences. The delegation from China will include Prof. Wang Xiaomin, Vice-President, Prof. Xu Quanyuan, former President and current Director of the Neuroscience Institute, and Prof. Jane Wang, Director of the Office of International Cooperation.
